We have an extensive full-time volunteering programme here in the Dublin Simon Community. The programme consists of an in-depth induction, on site training, Professional Certificate in Volunteerism with DIT - which has an emphasis on reflective practice and both formal and non formal learning.
Many people use the opportunity of full-time volunteering to gain essential practical experience in social care and addiction studies, to develop a career in this area. Others choose full-time volunteering to grow as individuals, to take time out from study/employment or to finally make that career change.
Volunteers attend a week long induction at the start of their placement and further develop their skill range throughout their time with DSC, focusing on their area of placement. We provide (where available) food and accommodation, a weekly allowance and any out of pocket expenses, training, supervision, mentoring and practical experience in the area of social care.
You must be 18+ to volunteer full-time with Dublin Simon Community. All applications go through the Dublin Simon Community Recruitment Procedure and are subject to Garda vetting and reference checking.
For full-time volunteers, we recruit all year round. Applications can be sent via email or post.
